Events and Trips

Duck Race and BBQ

This year's annual duck race was one of the best in years. As usual parents and children turned out in force showing the great support we continue to receive from the community.

The children organised stalls, the BBQ ran all night and the Tug o War proved a highlight with the staff suffering a humiliating defeat!

Our thanks go to the KSA who organised the event brilliantly and to all those who turned out to support it. In all the event raised nearly £2000 which will go towards projects that benefit the children in the school.

Blackborough Walk

Mrs Thompson organised one of her famous walks recently and this one included the whole school!

The older children started at school in the morning and took in the countryside on the way up the hill to Blackborough.

We stopped for lunch in a field and waited for Yellow class to join us for the return journey. It was a great day out for the whole school with lots of parents joining us for a classic Thompson Tour!

Exmoor Challenge

Once again our year six children stepped up to the challenge of completing the 16 mile hike on the challenging Exmoor terrain.

Kentisbeare had 3 teams entered and most of the 12 starters finished the entire course.

The Exmoor challenge is organised by the Rotory Club and sees the children check in every couple of miles but apart from that they're on their own!

Athletics

Our year 4 and year 5/6 athletics teams have been in action and very successful they have been as well! The indoor athletics competitions are organised by Kevin Sercome for the Uffculme cluster of schools and both of our teams came out on top of their respective competitions.

Both teams represent the cluster at the East Devon championships, the year 4 competition is in a few weeks but the Year 5/6 have already competed and Kentisbeare came out on top again! They now represent East Devon at the county final in a few weeks time.

Year 5 Activity Week

The year 5 children were the lucky ones recently when they had a whole week of educational and fun activities. Cycling at Haldon Hill, Fossilling at Charmouth, River Dart County Park were amongst the activities.

The week finished with an exciting opportunity to campout at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth sleeping with sharks.
